The State Post Bureau and the UPU signed a letter of intent for the framework of the “Belt and Road” framework

On the afternoon of September 2, Ma Junsheng, director of the State Post Bureau, who led a delegation to attend the 2nd special session of the UPU, met with Bisal Hussein and deputy director of the UPU International Bureau in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. General Director Pascal Krivac, the two sides held talks on the main topics of the UPU special session and further strengthening China's cooperation with the UPU. Ma Junsheng and Hussein jointly signed a letter of intent for cooperation, aiming to jointly promote the construction of the international railway freight transport mechanism under the framework of the “Belt and Road” and improve the interconnection of the international postal network.
Ma Junsheng said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the UPU and the signing of the letter of intent further strengthens China's determination to deepen cooperation with the UPU. China will continue to actively participate in the UPU governance and maintain the stable operation of the international postal multilateral system. The industry develops and meets the convenience of people of all countries to make joint efforts.
Hussein highly appreciated China’s active role in the UPU’s work and its support for the International Bureau over the years. In particular, it has made positive contributions to promoting reforms. He said that the “Belt and Road Initiative” has brought opportunities to the business development of member countries, and thanked China for its efforts to strengthen the interconnection of the global postal network and promote the development of international postal services.
According to the letter of intent for cooperation, the two sides will jointly explore areas for cooperation, strengthen cooperation with relevant international organizations, and promote postal business cooperation and development along the line.
The relevant officials of the Office of the State Post Bureau (Foreign Affairs Division), the General Service Department and the China Post Group Corporation participated in the above activities.
